The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is now in stock in a couple of more regions. The HSPA+ version (C6802) is available in Hong Kong for HK$ 6,198(£524, €603, $799) in both black and white, the purple version will arrive later.

The handset is also available in select Sony Stores in Malaysia for RM 2,299 (£468, €537, $713). Once again both black and white models are available. The handset will also shortly go on saleonline. Lastly, the Xperia Z Ultra has now gone on pre-order in Vietnam for VND 17,990,000.00 (£557, €639, $849).

Google makes Android 4.3 official, intros Bluetooth Low Energy support and Restricted Profiles

Google has formally unveiled the latest update to its Android software in the form of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Yes, Google is continuing its Jelly Bean strand, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer for those wanting Key Lime Pie or its equivalent. This is not surprising given all of the Android 4.3 leaks we had seen up until now.

Most of the big changes in Android 4.3 are under the hood. Google has introduced a number of performance enhancements including OpenGL ES 3.0 extension support. A big new addition in Android 4.3 is platform support for Bluetooth Smart technology, allowing connectivity for small, low-powered Bluetooth 4.0 devices and sensors. 

With the new API, apps will also now be able to access and interact with the stream of status bar notifications as they are posted. The Android 4.3 update is currently rolling out to Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ devices globally. As to when we’ll see it appear on Sony Xperia devices is anyone’s guess.

Xperia Z heading to Canada later this month; Bell gets exclusivity

Sony Mobile Canada has just announced that the Xperia Z will be exclusively heading to Bell Canada later this month. Up until now only the Xperia ZL (C6606) has been available in the region with the necessary LTE support. However, hot on the heels of the T-Mobile USA Xperia Z announcement, Canadians will officially be getting the handset too.

The Xperia Z will be available later this month, from Bell and Sony stores in three colours (black, white and purple). New experimenta API for illumination bar from sony

Sony Mobile has opened up its API for the illumination bar found in a number of Xperia devices including the recently launched Xperia SP. The “experimental API” as Sony calls it, will allow developers the chance to utilise the bar’s functionality in apps and/or custom ROMs. However, Sony is providing no support for the API and it will only come with limited documentation. 

Sony plans to introduce other “experimental API’s” if there is enough demand from the community. API’s under this badge will not come with full documentation or support but will be targeted to those niche developers who like to experiment with some of Sony’s features.
The API will give developers control of the LED illumination bar to change the colour, the frequency of pulses as well as various pre-defined fading patterns. It can also be used to illuminate to a beat in the Xperia SP’s music player. See a full list of supported phones below.

How to access the service menu in xperia z tablet

Users of  all Sony Xperia smartphones can easily access their service menu if needs be via the dialler, however it’s not as straight forward for Xperia Tablet z owners. Common reasons why one might want to access the service menu includes determining whether the boot loader is unlocked or which firmware customisation a device is running. A)-Guide to accessing the service menu on the Xperia tablet Z
1.First of all, Touch on the Contacts app.

☻If this is the first time you have running this app, Touch on > Details > adjacent to Contacts Setup.

2.Touch on the menu button (the 3 dots on the top right) and then touch on (Settings) at the bottom.

 3.This should bring up the screen below. Now you need to long Touch in the area highlighted with red  for around five seconds and release your finger.

New Sony MBH10 Mono Headset 2013

Today Sony announced another new headset earlier today in the site of the MBH10 Mono Bluetooth Headset. This appears to be a more entry-level headset compared to the SBH50 and SBH20  stereo headsets. The MBH10 Mono Headset will suit those who only wish to use it a headset for hands free calling people rather than listening to music or making call when he drive his car and it also features Bluetooth Multipoint technology, allowing you to connect two devices at the same time.

Other features include one-touch NFC/Bluetooth pairing and a 90mAh battery capable of 9 hours of talk time. the MBH10 hono headset weighs just 9.2 grams and has dimensions of 54 x 13 x 10 mm. The MBH10  will be available in both black and white colours and is marked as coming soon.

Xperia ZR 2014

The Sony Xperia ZR (C550X) has already launched in India/Taiwan and is set to hit Russia by the end of June, now another region has announced launch details. Hong Kong will see the Xperia ZR launch in early July for HK$ 4,698 (£387, €452, $606). All four colours will be available including black, white, mint and pink.

The Hong Kong model will support LTE bands and pre-orders are currently being taken through the Sony Store website. You can check out some photos below from the launch event that took place earlier today.
